How do you effectively create a talent development strategy? Once you create a strategy, how do you know that it's working? You may engage in the day to day operations of talent development, but what does the strategic view look like? 

 

Join us at our April Talent Development LAB as Michele Herlein, Chief Human Resources Officer at Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon, Inc. gives us a glimpse of managing effective talent development programs from an executive level. Michele will share insights on:

  • How to Build Programs the Align with Corporate Strategy
  • Gaining Buy-In from the C-Suite
  • Evaluating initiatives from an Executive Viewpoint


About Our Session Leader:



 

Michele Herlein joined Barge, Waggoner, Sumner and Cannon, Inc. in 2015 as Chief Human Resources Officer. She serves on the firm’s Executive Team and is leading the human resources team to support BWSC in becoming the best place to work in their field. 


Prior to Barge Waggoner, Michele spent eight years with Bridgestone Americas, most recently serving as Vice President of Talent, Organization & Culture. She was responsible for areas that include leadership development, performance management, succession planning, corporate culture and organizational development. Prior to Bridgestone, she spent 10 years in various leadership development and organizational development roles at Bandag, Inc. Earlier in her career, Michele operated a consulting business, which provided training needs assessment, design, development, and facilitation which followed a successful stint with Drake Beam Morin, Inc. as Managing Consultant. 


Michele graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a minor in Economics; and, a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Communication. She has also earned her Doctorate in Business Administration from St. Ambrose University. She has published and presented articles on competency development, change management, coaching, leadership development, and cultural development. 


Michele lives in Lebanon, TN with her husband Doug. They have four children and two granddaughters. They enjoy golfing, traveling, painting, and photography.
