Special Interest Groups (SIG)

In addition to our monthly meetings and other learning and networking events, ATD Middle Tennessee offers a number of Special Interest Groups (SIGs) to our members.  For more information, read below and contact the associated board member.  If you're interested in creating a SIG inside of ASTD Middle Tennessee, contact our President.

The Consultant's Forum SIG

A new Special Interest Group (SIG), since January, 2015, The Consultant’s Forum, meets monthly.  The locations and format alternate between an informal gathering from 5:30pm- 7:00pm at at Cool Springs Brewery, 600 Frazier Drive, Franklin (near Mallory Lane and Cool Springs Blvd.) to a more formal conversation, case study or program offered nearby in Cool Springs  This SIG is designed to meet the unique needs of ATD Nashville’s consultant members. Now is a perfect time to get involved with this new SIG and join us for a fun evening and/or  dinner.

The SIG is open to all consultants (internal, external, and those considering becoming one). We encourage you to join us to:

  • Meet people who have a broad range of consulting experience.
  • Bring a current work challenge, idea, reading topic, or new tool to add to the group discussion.
  • Relax and enjoy socializing with a great group of ATD Nashville people.
  • Enjoy a delicious dinner with great conversations.

See registration details on the Events page.

If you should have any questions about the SIG please contact Doug GrayMark Kenny or Mathew Laughlin.  Then join us!

Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) SIG

The CPLP SIG meets periodically to share resources and study for the CPLP exam.  To participate in the CPLP SIG, please contact Erin Evans.

Transitions SIG

Rather than developing our own smaller SIG focused on transitions, ATD Nashville recommends that members visit the Middle Tennessee Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Career Transition Team meeting.  For more information on this group, visit the MTSHRM website by clicking here

Organizational Development (OD) SIG

The OD-SIG serves as a community of practice for OD and Workplace Learning and Performance professionals.  Organization Development is a body of knowledge and practices that enhances organizational effectiveness and team development.
The OD SIG meets on the 1st Thursday of each month.  We use a rotating meeting format: one month is a typical "structured" session with a central topic and facilitated discussion.  This is followed the next month with an "unstructured" more casual gathering at a local restaurant for networking and best-practice sharing.  We encourage participants who have an OD-related challenge/project to come share it with the group for an open-ended discussion.
Be sure to check the ATD Event site every month to get information on our activities and meeting location.  For more information on the OD SIG, please contact Rob Bateman at Jennifer Moehlmann.

Instructional Design / eLearning SIG

The ID/eLearning SIG meets on the 4th Monday of every month at 6:00pm. Meetings alternate between social networking events (odd months) and structured meetings with a specific topic focus (even months). Participation is open to anyone who has interest in instructional design and/or elearning - whether you’re actively working in the field, interested in joining the field, or just wanting to learn more about it. Visit the Events page for specific location details and to register.

If you have any questions about the SIG, please contact Jeanne Bernui. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
