November Dinner Meeting with Kevin Thorn:

Visual Cortex: What Our Learners Don’t See

Event Description

The visual cortex is the area of the brain we use to process visual information. We can communicate an action or perceived affordance on a computer screen by applying simple visual techniques. The term, “less is more” is the key by allowing learners to use their imagination and experiences to complete the image or graphic and in turn results in higher retention.

We hope you will join us for this special evening meeting. In addition to the networking opportunities and professional development we offer at each chapter meeting, this meeting will also include a buffet dinner.  Please note the later starting time of 5:30 pm.

Session Objectives

  • Describe what the visual cortex is and why it's important
  • Define perceived affordances
  • Allow learners to use their own experiences to complete a visual message
  • Apply simple visual communication techniques following basic principles

ATD Competencies Addressed
